This latest timepiece takes its inspiration from a key milestone in Seiko’s diving watch expertise – the 1968 Diver. This was the brand’s first one-piece case hi-beat Diver’s watch, with 300m water resistance. The modern recreation of the 1968 Diver has been designed under the theme of ‘The Great Wave’ – a reference to the iconic woodblock print by artist Hokusai, during the Edo period. Crafted from stainless steel with a super-hard coating, this timepiece features a special dial pattern, inspired by the wave symbol on its case back. This symbol, seen on all Seiko diving watches since the 1960s, was designed to symbolise high-grade water resistance. The diving scale on the bezel is crafted from lightweight, scratch-resistant ceramic and its GMT feature tracks multiple time zones simultaneously. For the first time in a Prospex watch, the short-pitch length bracelet features a micro-adjustable clasp feature for added comfort. The in-house built 6R54 automatic GMT calibre is accurate to -15/+25 seconds per day, with a three day power reserve. This timepiece is water resistant up to 300m. Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
