DS SUPER PH500M SEA TURTLE CONSERVANCY - A DIVER'S WATCH WITH A MISSION
Once again Certina turns to the sea and its inhabitants. It’s clear from a first glance at the DS Super PH500M Sea Turtle Conservancy, the Swiss watchmaker’s latest special edition, that this watch is different. For the first time, the annual STC edition appears with a vintage design combined with bright colours, while its commitment to the cause remains unchanged. A portion of the proceeds from sales will go to benefit the Sea Turtle Conservancy and its important work. Moreover, both the strap and the packaging are made from environmentally friendly materials. And what colour is sustainability? At Certina this year it’s a luminous royal blue.
A PARTNERSHIP UNDER THE SIGN OF THE TURTLE
A partner of the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) since July 2017, Certina has created a new STC special edition. The Swiss watchmaker is proud to support the environmental protection and sustainability goals of the Florida-based organization, which has been working to protect sea turtles since 1959. Its work is important and takes many different forms, ranging from research programmes and educational campaigns to relief efforts for injured or endangered animals. This watch is not only a perfect companion under water, it also contributes to sustainability. A portion of the proceeds from each model sold goes to the STC to support its work. The watch's blue textile strap is made from #tide ocean material®, which is based on plastics fished from the ocean. In addition, Certina uses fully recyclable materials for the watch box, and organic cotton and recycled polyester for the cushion inside.
A DIVER'S WATCH WITH STYLE
The design of the DS Super PH500M Sea Turtle Conservancy goes back to a Certina model from 1968. Its 43 mm stainless steel case frames a brilliant blue dial with a sunray finish. The unidirectional rotating bezel with blue aluminum is used together with the orange minute hand to set the dive time. A screw-down crown and Super-LumiNova® on the hands and indexes also ensure safety under water. As an official diver's watch, the unlimited Special Edition meets the rigorous requirements of the ISO 6425 diver’s watch standard, and is water-resistant to 500 meters. Its impressive, self-winding mechanical movement has a power reserve up to 80 hours and features an anti-magnetic NivachronTM balance spring. Thanks to the robust workmanship characteristic of all Certina DS models, this precision-engineered mechanism is well equipped for every adventure.
