Picking the Perfect Watch with Alistair Guy

Men's Creative & Photographer

At Fraser Hart, we're always keeping an eye on the biggest content creators in the men's fashion and lifestyle space. We love their shared passion for all things luxury watches and jewellery. Recently, we caught up with Fashion Photographer Alistair Guy to discuss his first watch and jewellery memories as well his top tips for buying a new watch

Do you have any early jewellery memories from your childhood?

My first watch was a Snoopy watch with a blue strap and after that I used to collect Swatch watches, I especially loved to swap the straps and customise them. I think I've definitely moved on from the Snoopy ones but they definitely hold a sentimental place in my childhood

How would you describe your own jewellery style and what inspires it?

I enjoy classic, timeless designs. Particularly pieces that are not too large and are comfortable. I feel the more simple a piece of jewellery is, the more you can wear it with anything. My daily is an IWC Spitfire Pilot's watch and I usually wear a silver bracelet by Daniella Draper on my other wrist. Analogue watches thankfully have come back into fashion. I don't believe electronic or battery powered watches have any real classic appeal.

What jewellery pieces do you wear every day?

My daily is an IWC Spitfire Pilot's watch and I usually wear a silver bracelet by Daniella Draper on my other wrist. Analogue watches thankfully have come back into fashion. I don't believe electronic or battery powered watches have any real classic appeal.

I think for everyone, it should come down to their own tastes. Pieces I go for would be the more classic makes or styles. I'd also always go for something that I know I could wear everyday. Other pieces that maybe feature a steel or gold bracelet would be better suited to a formal event. Consider all of these factors and visit stores to try different ones on.

What's Your Dream Watch

Definitely an IWC as they are such good quality and classic design. Classic timepieces are a genuine investment for yourself and your style and are something you can keep forever when looked after properly. I would recommend them to anyone.
