TUDOR RANGER

THE SPIRIT OF A TOOL WATCH

The Ranger model was presented by TUDOR in 2022 as a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition. The new Ranger continues the tradition of robust, practical and affordable instruments, born with the Oyster Prince watches used by the members of the expedition. Equipped with Manufacture Calibre MT5402, the Ranger line features 39mm case with a matt black domed dial and ranger hands. Offering a rapid adjustment ‘T-fit’ clasp, the Ranger is available with a stainless steel bracelet, olive-green Jacquard fabric strap with red and beige stripes, and a hybrid black rubber and leather strap.

MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5402

The Ranger model is equipped with Manufacture Calibre MT5402. Its construction has been designed to ensure robustness, longevity, reliability and precision due to its variable-inertia balance, which is held in place by a sturdy traversing bridge with two points of fixation.

THE RANGER SAGA

THE RANGER SAGA

The legacy of the Ranger name extends far beyond the British North Greenland Expedition. Although the TUDOR watches worn by its members from 1952 to 1954 did not bear this inscription on their dials, subsequent Ranger models have continued the tradition of the expedition watch—a sturdy, practical, and affordable timepiece that originated at TUDOR during that period.

The roots of the TUDOR Ranger family can be traced back to 1929 when Hans Wilsdorf registered the name "Ranger," just three years after registering the "TUDOR" trademark.

In the years that followed the registration of Ranger, the name was not used to designate a specific model but rather to add an adventurous flair to certain watches in the TUDOR collection.

The Oyster Prince watches worn by the members of the British North Greenland Expedition from 1952 to 1954 did not feature the Ranger mention on their dials. However, subsequent Ranger models have upheld the concept of the expedition watch—a robust, practical, and affordable instrument that was born at TUDOR during that time.

The Ranger's distinctive aesthetic standards, such as Arabic luminescent numerals at 2, 6, 9, and 12 on the black dial, as well as the arrow-shaped hour hand, were established in the 1960s.

Throughout its history, Ranger models were offered in various versions, with or without a date, initially displaying the TUDOR rose logo on their dials, which was later replaced by the TUDOR shield logo starting from 1969.

As early as 1973, an integrated bracelet version of the Ranger, known as the "Ranger II," was introduced.

In 2013, the Heritage Ranger was unveiled, featuring a 41mm self-winding design that incorporated all the iconic elements of the Ranger aesthetics, except for the Ranger mention at 6 o'clock.

The latest Ranger model introduced in 2022, adheres to the aesthetic standards established throughout its history while incorporating new cutting-edge technical features, including a high-performance in-house movement and a TUDOR "T-fit" clasp.
