This limited edition timepiece is within a small collection to commemorate the 145th Anniversary of the beginnings of Seiko as a Tokyo clock and watch repair shop in 1881.
In the 1960s, King Seiko timepieces led Seiko Watch Corporation’s developments in world-leading technical precision. ‘King Seiko’ originated when multiple Seiko watchmakers created different watches to encourage innovation – one of the Japanese watch brand’s constant aims.
The King Seiko VANAC channels Seiko archive inspiration from the iconic 1970s collection of the same name. This timepiece features a horizontally-patterned white dial with 'Seiko blue' coloured accents. The hands are finished with a brilliant blue ion plating. The caseback features the King Seiko logo in blue, as well as Limited Edition and the unique serial number engravings.
The VANAC name is an acronym of its original design features: V for a 'Vibrant case design;’ A for 'Active lifestyle' – for both formal and informal occasions; N for 'Novel dial ring' – its angular edges resembling a metropolis cityscape; A for 'Alternative dial design' - a 3-dimensional dial design inspired by the horizon; C for 'Comfortable bracelet' - a short-pitch length bracelet, completed with a mirror and hairline finish.
Powered by the new in-house built 8L45 mechanical calibre, it has been crafted with the highest accuracy of Seiko mechanical movements - accurate to +10/-5 seconds per day with a three-day power reserve.
Long live the new King Seiko: modernised elite watchmaking, yet its stately, dignified and majestically classic looks remain.
