This watch shape is nicknamed by Seiko fans as the 'Turtle' - a reference to its distinctive rounded case form which has a similar silhouette to a turtle on the wrist. The crystal has a ‘machined-in’ magnified portion over the day and date dial window making viewing the date much more practical.
