Area Manager

South West, UK

To maximise the performance, sells and profit of the area by working with each of the retail Store Managers on the delivery of the retail strategy through implementation of companywide initiatives, programs, coaching and development. Delivery of all retail KPIs whilst achieving a strong work/life balance.

Accountabilities

                1. Works closely with the Retail Director and Regional Managers to understand the Retail Strategy and key deliverables for the area.
                2. Conducts regular visits with the stores in the area in order to build and maintain strong relationships with the store management teams and employees.
                3. Identifies areas for opportunities and improvement within each store.
                4. Manages all day to day operational issues.
                5. Organises and conducts regular management meetings to encourage a culture of learning/sharing information and to ensure consistency.
                6. Coaches and develops store management teams within the area through strong leadership by driving delivery of retail objectives.
                7. Holds Store Managers to account ensuring that core processes are consistently adhered to in order to reduce error and improve efficiency.
                8. Leads management ensuring that managers are equipped to deliver new initiatives in a manner that minimises disruption and maximises benefits.
                9. Ensures that Store Managers are adhering to all company policies and procedures.
                10. Manages formal and informal employee disciplinary or grievances with support from HR where necessary.
                11. Understands and measures performance; driving contribution and profit.
                12. Accountable for the delivery of sales, staff cost, P & L, margins and shrinkage.
                13. Pushes to exceed goals & raises the performance bar in all stores in the area.
                14. Ensures consistency in store layout and standards to maximise customers shopping experience.
                15. Actively reviews talent within all stores and works with Store Managers to create succession and development plans.
                16. Provides a key communication link between the stores and Regional or Senior Management.
                17. Anticipates customer needs and makes decisions that are right for customers and actively drives actions to increase customer loyalty.
                18. Encourages continuous improvement and development by creating a challenging environment that stretches the team’s capabilities.
                19. Leads through personal influence.
                20. Knows when to escalate concerns to Regional Manager or Retail Director.
                21. Actively builds relationships with the key functions in the business and influences decisions to optimise business performance.
                22. Arranges regular catch ups with other Area Managers in order to collaborate as peers by sharing across the areas and brand leading to improved results.
                23. Assesses potential risks and benefits of any proposed initiatives or changes based on a strong understanding of how changes will be implemented at store level.
                24. Translates strategic plans into clear operational plans with achievable store targets.
                25. Focuses on commercial opportunities and makes suggestions to the Regional Managers or Retail Director.
                26. Makes decisions without hesitate based on facts and full information.
                27. Understands and lives the culture and embraces the values – is a brand ambassador and champions customer service.
                28. Consciously challenges and stretches own skill boundaries – looks for opportunities outside comfort zone.
                29. Deputises for the Regional Manager or Retail Director.

Skills & Experience Required

                  1. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a management role
                  2. Previous area management experience desirable
                  3. Proven track record in achieving targets and delivering results through people
                  4. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
                  5. Strong leadership and organisational skills

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Full time permanent Supervisor to join our team at Fraser Hart, Westfield White City.

The suitable candidate will assist the store management team in motivating and inspiring the store team to deliver transformational service while maximising retail sales and profit. If you are passionate about customer service and thrive on a new challenge this is the role for you. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years retail experience in a customer service facing environment with a proven track record of performance on driving sales while maintaining operational standards to the highest levels.

                • To assist the management team in analysing business opportunities to create and deliver a store action plan to drive retail sales, profit and customer service
                • To motivate and inspire the sales team to deliver exceptional results through demonstrating outstanding leadership skills
                • To drive sales and maximise profit in key product areas
                • To assist the management team in delivering all company KPI's
                • Work as part of a focused store management team
